Visit to Algonquin Provincial Park
11 October 2009
One of the best places to catch the fall's maple colours is the Algonquin Provincial Park, which is 7,653 sq km large provincial park located between Georgian Bay and the Ottawa River in Central Ontario. There are over 2,400 lakes and 1,200 kilometres of streams and rivers located within the park.
The fall colours alone make a trip to Algonquin worthwhile, especially during the peak of maple colours in the last week of September or, occasionally, in the first few days of October. It is the Thanksgiving long weekend, and it's just perfect for a day's trip to admire the colours of autumn!
Beautiful colours all along the way on the small local highways...
Lots of walking trails within the park...and get immersed in those beautiful woods, streams and leaves...
and more lakes around the parks...
It was quite a random decision to go to the Park, as it all depended on the weather forecast. Coincidentally, I met at least 2 separate groups of my colleagues there :) bet they are having a great time there too! Lots of holiday-makers during that day, bet they are all like me, keen to experience the wonderful autumn days! :) ...before the freezing winter arrives...
