Career Change?

Some stuff I read over some websites...good for sharing...

Most people hold back from 180-degree career changes -and their hesitation is not entirely unfounded. The path to one's dreams is often a minefield of risks, sacrifices and financial uncertainty.

The recurring formula behind each worker's success story was a pinch of courage to get started, and a strong sense of purpose to see the transition through. Advice? "Dare to fail!"

Know what you want. Most people vegetate because they do not truly know what they want. Doing the things you like will give you the will to overcome the obstacles that will certainly be thrown your way. When you have a clear purpose, you won't have time for negativity.

Understand your risk appetite, but do not be overwhelmed by the risks. Do a thorough self-assessment and understand your strengths and weaknesses, but also be imaginative about how your experience could actually be turned into an edge in your prospective job.

Define your new career goals and learn about the technical requirements of the job you want to pursue. Take up relevant courses or work in other ways towards qualifications. Finally, trust in yourself and take the first step.
