Visit to Glasgow & Edinburgh
30 April - 1 May 2007
No choice, got to sleep in the airport prior to my departure to Glasgow, but surprisingly I was not the only one, there were lots of travellers, scattered on chairs and floor ;) like a homeless refuge, quite an experience though...haaa...
Reached Glasgow at early morning, randomly met some Japanese chicks, shared a cab to my hostel, they randomly took up a room there, and we randomly roamed around the city area...apparently one of the girls is the daughter of some famous pub chain business in Japan, can't remember which pub though...
Glasgow is bit of boring, nothing much though, even the architecture is not so spectacular, it looks more like an industrial area though...or maybe just lack of a guide to help me appreciate more... Walking along the Trongate, you will come across the Glasgow Cross, where the Trongate, High Street, Saltmarket, and the Tolbooth and Steeple meet. This is also the weekly marketplace in the 17th century. The Tolbooth and Steeple used to be the administrative centre and a prison for those accused of crimes.
Edinburgh is much more interesting, with castles on hills and nice scenaries. The Edinburgh Castle dominates the skyline of the city, which stoods on the hills just beside the train station.
Scotch whiskey & scottish kilts :)
Had an unexpected reunion back at the airport upon my return to London, met Tongmei (in fact, its her who saw me first), my secondary school friend whom I lost touch since a long long time ago. Wah so happy to see her :D had a quick catching up right at the boarding gate before she caught the same plane back to Glasgow that brought me back ;) what a coincidence!
