Questions to ask...
Came across one article and these could be useful questions to ask during your job interviews:
How would you describe the culture within your organisation?
Ask the interviewer this question to get their individual perspective on their company culture. One of the most common reasons people look for a new role is because they are seeking a company with a work culture that suits them better.
What makes this company a good employer?
Asking this question will allow you to find out what makes the organisation stand out from the rest. It could be that the firm has a fantastic annual leave and benefits package, or that it offers its employees international career opportunities. You need to get an idea of why you should join this company apart from the jump in salary.
How do you reward your top performers over the long term?
This accomplishes two things: It will put the employer on the spot to illustrate a number of success stories of high performers within the organisation and, it will also show the interviewer that you consider yourself a high performer and hence, are keen to know what you can look forward to down the road.
Is this a new role or a replacement position?
Now you're starting to get down to the nuts and bolts of the job offer. Companies hire new people for a host of reasons - maybe the last three people left the position due to the long hours. On the other hand, maybe the role could be a replacement position as the last candidate was promoted internally.
What are the biggest challenges I will face in my first 12 months?
You will get a much better idea of what to expect if and when you start your new job. The first six to 12 months are typically the most difficult as you have to adjust to new responsibilities and a new work environment. It's good to get an idea of the other factors that could affect the "settling in" process, in addition to knowing what you're getting into.
