Belgium National Day

Today is the National Day of Belgium.

21 July 1831 was the day when Leopold I became the king of a newly formed country.
So it means that Belgium has been established for 176 years.

In Brussels, the day is celebrated with street festivals during the day, dance & music, and a stunning firework display in front of the grand Royal Palace at night. Public government buildings have open house, there is military parade in front of the palace, and different military groups are on display to showcase the military power of the country.

Fountain in the Parc de Bruxelles, with the Parliment building (Palais de la Nation) in the background.

Sea of people flooding the streets of the city, and there are all kinds of stalls along the streets. The Palais de Justice in the background...

Traditional Flanders music & dance

Small little fancy parades going on around the city ;)

The Royal Palace and the fireworks in the night...

Spent the day with 2 Spore friends, Huisi & Jovin. So now I know how Belgium celebrates their national day :) soon it's gonna be Spore birthday in August too...
