Visit to Spa

29 July 2007

What to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon?
Go for spa in Spa ;)

As the name implies, Spa has an environment of relaxation, health and enjoyment in the midst of the undulating hills and countless of springs & rivers. In the 18th century, Spa was described as the Cafe of Europe due to its noteworthy flow of cure-seeking visitors, which is the main source of tourism in the area.

Scattered throughout Spa, the springs are locally known as 'pouhons'. The Pouhon Pierre-le-Grand is the most renowned spring of Spa. Its sparkling water is rich in iron and mineral salts. Various studies are carried on the many springs in order to classify them depending on their composition and what ailments they could cure.

Main street of Spa, and its casino...

Went to this biggest spa in town, known as Les Thermes de Spa, located on a little hill. It consists of a large indoor pool, or also called the Bath, including stuff like jacuzzi, hot spring, sauna etc. Also there are other wellness bath treatments, massages, and beauty packages. A complete rejuvenating and pampered afternoon for me :D
