Royal Greenhouses

22 April 2007

Every year in Spring, the Royal Greenhouses in Laeken is opened to public for about 20 days. The greenhouses were built by the architect Alphonse Balat between 1870 - 1880s for King Leopold II. It showcases many exotic plants and flowers...

Not wanting to miss the chance, we went for a visit to the greenhouses over the weekend, enjoyed the sunshine, grass and picnic ;D

Everything is gigantic!!! Gigantic rose plants, huge tangerines hanging from the trees, towering banana trees at least 2-3m high, wah!!! See, different environment means different life, even the plants of the Royals got more supreme fertilizers to grow fatter and taller...

Just felt homely when I caught sight of orchid and hibiscus (national flower of Singapore and Malaysia respectively) cool...

Spent the day with trainees, strolling along the gardens, sun-tanning and having picnic on the grass, enjoying their company, and eventually chilling out at the bar again till sunset again, and sent them back to the station...

Another nice weekend to the start of a nice week ;) cheers...
