Visit to Düsseldorf & Köln

7 - 9 April 2007

Going to Düsseldorf is purely to visit some German friends known from previous training in Portugal. Stayed with Silke, liked those simple paintings in the house, listened to those stories of the paintings, and simply catching up with her :)

Königsallee (or simply known as Kö) is considered as one of the most luxurious shopping boulevards in Germany, with the sides of the canal filled with hotels, shopping malls and shops.

K21 Kunstsammlung im Ständehaus, one of the best museums in Düsseldorf that is dedicated to international comtemporary art.

Quite some interesting buildings by the river bank...the metallic one is known as the Gehry building, designed by Frank O. Gehry.

Rhein River is the main river that runs through the city, and lots of people gathered along the river for different activities. The sun was great, ate 3 ice-creams, and simply enjoyed sitting by the river listening to live guitar music and sleep...

Spent the 3rd day in Köln (which is 50min from Düsseldorf) & to meet up with another old friend Agustin.

Basically Köln is about different views of the famous cathedral known as the Dom, which is entered in the World Heritage List and has the world's largest free-swinging church bell. It is huge and visible from everywhere you go...

This lady is so amazing, she plays music out of glasses filled with water, and it really sounds like the xylophone!!!

During the trip, met a painter and a DJ, so I will be off to Münich soon to catch her paintings ;) and the DJ is such cool punk who has been to Asia and manages lots of beach parties ;)
